OPTOMER Fiber Optic Cable Slack Storage Boxes
Cable slack storage boxes are solutions designed for organizing and protecting fiber optic cable reserves. They are used wherever orderly storage of cable slack is required in cable rooms.
The offer includes four models: SZ-1, SZ-1.2, SZ-1.3 and SZ-1.4. They differ in dimensions, housing material, and capacity, which allows selecting the appropriate variant both for smaller installations and for more extensive operator networks.
What is a cable reserve box used for?
A fiber optic cable slack storage box is used for safe storage of excess cable in one organized location. The removable internal frame allows convenient winding of the cable outside the enclosure, while the lockable cover protects the reserve from accidental damage.
The solution allows:
✔ maintaining the correct cable bend radius,
✔ protecting cable slack from mechanical damage and contamination,
✔ conveniently routing the cable on the frame after removing it from the enclosure,
✔ organizing cable reserve in telecom cable rooms,
✔ facilitating maintenance and access to the reserve during network upgrades.
Four variants for different applications
SZ-1 – basic model for standard installations
SZ-1 is a version with dimensions of 750×750×130 mm, available in steel or aluminum. The box is equipped with eight cable ports and is suitable for standard installations requiring fiber optic cable slack storage in a cable room.
SZ-1.2 – increased enclosure depth, higher capacity
Model with the same width and height as SZ-1, but with a deeper enclosure (250 mm), which results in significantly higher capacity. Available in steel or aluminum versions, it is suitable where a larger cable reserve must be stored without increasing the installation footprint.
SZ-1.3 – the highest capacity in the entire range
The largest box in the series, with dimensions of 860×860×215 mm, made of steel. It supports cables up to 19 mm in diameter and a capacity of up to 640 meters. This solution is intended for applications where a large cable reserve must be stored at a single infrastructure point.
SZ-1.4 – compact design for smaller reserves
The smallest box in the series (540×540×145 mm), made of steel. It is suitable where space in the cable room is limited and the diameter of the stored cable does not exceed 13 mm.
Installation and cabling
In all four models, the installation and cable routing principle is the same. The cover is removed after unlocking, using the cover handles (except SZ-1.4, which does not have them). The internal frame is unscrewed from the enclosure and removed, allowing convenient cable winding outside the box.
The cable is wound onto the frame in even loops and then routed through selected rubber grommets, which must be cut in advance in the appropriate places of the enclosure. The frame with the wound cable is placed back into the box and secured with nuts, after which the cover is installed and the lock is closed.
This solution simplifies cable slack management while also allowing the installation to be prepared for future maintenance work, network upgrades, or expansion.
